Rob Pickett

Longtime industry veteran Rob Pickett launched his own firm in July of 2001 to assist building systems manufacturers to improve their company’s performance through efficient operations. With experience in several aspects of the log home industry, the inspiration for this enterprise grew from the knowledge that most of the industry is wrestling with similar problems.

Over the past 26 years, Pickett has successfully gained acceptance of building systems by code officials, documenting the assembly and performance aspects of those systems, and managing the procedures necessary to deliver the product. Hands-on supervision of design, estimating, and material takeoff functions involved generation of custom software solutions. These solutions helped reduce issues of training and staffing with increased productivity.

Pickett has been a longtime supporter of the Log Homes Council (LHC) of the National Association of Home Builders, serving most recently as the 2001 LHC President and Chairman of the LHC Technical Committee. Under his leadership, the committee was revived in 1999 to publish a single document that answers frequently asked technical questions. These white papers can be viewed on the website, www.loghomes.org. Prior to 1999, Pickett had participated in developing the LHC Log Grading Program, serving as chairman of this committee for several years. Honored with the 1994 Log Homes Council President’s Award for these efforts, Pickett was again thanked for his contributions with the 2002 Log Homes Council Innovator Award for outstanding contribution and direction with the Log Homes Council Technical Committee and the Strategic Plan.

Specializing in log and timber construction, RobPickett &Associates (RP&A) has had experience in the design and production of modular and HUD-code homes, and worked with a production site builder and developer in Denver.
